One more question : On prometrics exam content outline there are a series of numbers and or letters following each subject. I am sure the are in refrence to insurance codes or something. Can someone tell me where to find these? I am sure they will help alot if i knew where to find them.

Thanks again,

UPDATE !! I finally passed my P&C exam !! Thank you Gary for the phone call and the e-mail your tips were excellent!! Also i found by going to Prometric's website and printing the exam content outline, and studying the subjects outlined helped me a great deal. My score was 82%. If you add Texas to your testing material products i will for sure purchase them, and recommend them to all my fellow prospective agents !!

Thanks again !!!

This is a great blog...i hope it is still active. I am in Texas and have taken my P&C test 5 times !! Failed it every time, and get this...same score every time 69..1 point under passing...how is this possible? I have used 2 major study courses, and spent a ton of my own money. There are always about 40-45 questions on the prometric exam that are NOT in my study material!! And i pass all of my practice exams every time with an average score of 98!!..I am very frustrated, and really lacking the confidence i need now. I really don't know what else to do. I am re-taking the test in 3 days, but still feel un-prepared. Also i have spent way over 100 hours studying for this !!!..i am so lost now...any advice would be greatly appreciated...

thnaks

I can attest to this first-hand. If you don't know how much is going to be on the exam, STUDY FOR EVERYTHING. Make sure you know the insurance business inside and out, then make sure you know it inside and out AGAIN. Then study some more, and more, and more. Then take the test. If it were easy, we'd all be insurance experts, but it isn't--that's the point. Study hard, understand the material and go for it.
Insurance Tsar is right on target...this is not a test for the unprepared or the work-ethic challenged. Thanks for the comment! -Gary

Hi Gary - thanks for posting the information on SB 734, the law that will provide coverage to Oregonians who want to quit the tobacco habit! Oregon is only the 7th state to embark on this! Would you be interested in posting an article from a well known Oregon tobacco researcher, Dr. Charles Bentz, on the evidence of how much a benefit like this could save Oregon residents and employers in money and resources?

You are welcome, and thanks for the kind words. I would like to take a look at the article you referred to and possibly post it in the PIB...would you send me the link? Thanks! -Gary

I've been engaged in taxes for lengthier then I care to acknowledge, both on the individualized side (all my working lifetime!!) and from a legal stand since satisfying the bar and following up on tax law. I've put up a lot of advice and righted a lot of wrongs, and I must say that what you've posted makes impeccable sense. Please carry on the good work - the more individuals know the better they'll be armed to cope with the tax man, and that's what it's all about.
